Becoming Your Most Authentic Self: Bringing It All Together

|Sky Knox

Listen here.

Over the last few episodes, we've been discussing ways for you to take the time to learn yourself. Now it's time to bring all of those elements together into a cohesive approach to living authentically.

The Foundation: Your Values

Going back to what we discussed in the first episode, knowing your values is extremely important. Your values shape who you are and how you show up in different situations. They're the compass that guides your decisions, relationships, and daily choices. By identifying your values and staying true to them, you will automatically be on a path to success -- not just external success, but the kind that feels meaningful and aligned with who you truly are.

The Fuel: Your Happiness

Once you're on this path, it's important that you find happiness in the things that you do. Whether that be spending time with family or friends, spending time with yourself, your art, spending time with pets, traveling, or trying new activities, these moments of joy are essential to living a fulfilled life. While keeping your values in mind, try different activities and experiences to see what truly makes you happy. Don't be afraid to experiment -- sometimes the things that bring us the most joy are the ones we least expect.

The Expression: Your Interests

When you've found these things, they may translate into your life in different ways. Some of those things might correlate with your job, or they may fall into the category of interests. These interests could be things you pursue outside of your job or even with friends or family. They're the ways you express yourself and engage with the world around you. Your interests are extensions of your values and sources of your happiness, creating a rich tapestry of experiences that make your life uniquely yours.

The Circle: Your People

All of these parts of yourself are unique to you. Of course you'll find people with similar interests and even values as well. When you've found these people, keep them in your circle. While it is important to learn from others who we don't fully align with or relate to, it is just as important to surround ourselves with like-minded people who truly understand us. These are the people who celebrate your authentic-self and encourage you to stay true to who you are.

The Journey Continues

I hope this series helped you reevaluate some of these areas for yourself. Maybe all three or even just one. It's so important every once in a while to have a check-in with yourself and make sure you feel like the most authentic version of you. Life changes, we grow, and our understanding of ourselves deepens over time. Regular self-reflection ensures we're staying connected to what matters most.

Remember, your values, happiness, and interests are unique to you. While others may share certain similarities, there are still going to be different perspectives and life experiences that differentiate you from someone else. Embrace those things, because they are what help make you your most authentic self! Your uniqueness isn't something to hide or diminish -- it's your greatest strength and the foundation of a life that truly feels like yours.

What part of this journey resonates with you the most? Have you taken time recently to check in with yourself? Remember, becoming your most authentic self is an ongoing process, not a destination!
